Prerana Das: The Creator Who Turned Everyday Moments Into Art

From watching makeup tutorials to performing theatre and now writing, acting, and producing her own content – Prerana Das has come a long way. Known for her quirky, relatable, and heartfelt storytelling, Prerana has carved a niche for herself as one of the Internet’s most refreshing and authentic voices.

But her journey wasn’t born out of an overnight success story i-t was built, quite literally, one video at a time.

It all began with curiosity

I’ve always been fascinated by cameras and wanted to be in front of one, she recalls. “I used to watch a lot of makeup videos and eventually started experimenting with makeup and creating my own videos – though, at first, they didn’t go very well.”

During the lockdown, she joined a theatre group, where she discovered her passion for performance and scriptwriting. That’s when things changed. “I decided to create a proper piece of content based on a relatable script written by me,” she says.

That very video went viral, crossing 500K views – and with it, Prerana found her voice. “That’s when my journey of making funny, relatable content truly began.”

A Passion Turned Profession

At the time, content creation wasn’t seen as a “real” career path – but Prerana continued to create, purely out of love. “It wasn’t even recognised as a profession in 2020–2021,” she says. “But since it was something I genuinely loved, I kept doing it alongside my job search after graduation.”

What started as a side passion slowly became a full-fledged profession, one where creativity and authenticity took centre stage.

Owning Her Voice – Literally

Through content creation, Prerana learned one of her most personal lessons – to embrace her individuality. “I used to be quite conscious of my husky voice; it was something I saw as a flaw growing up,” she admits. “But through this journey, I’ve learned to embrace it as my uniqueness – something that sets me apart.”

That self-acceptance now reflects in her work, where confidence and vulnerability coexist beautifully.

Evolving as a Storyteller

“When I first started, I used to write simple relatable scripts inspired by small everyday moments – without much personal perspective or depth,” she says.

Now, her storytelling goes beyond observation – it carries emotion and personal reflection. “It’s important to go beyond societal perspectives and bring your individuality into storytelling. That’s what makes content truly connect.”

Her philosophy is simple: Create what feels true, not what’s trending.

Creating With Purpose

For Prerana, content creation isn’t just about making people laugh – it’s about making them feel seen. “Today, people watch our content to feel good – to escape, even briefly, from the chaos of their daily lives,” she says. “So, as a digital creator, I feel a sense of responsibility to make my audience feel better about themselves and their world.”

She draws a clear line between her personal and public life. “What I present in front of the camera is an extension of my craft – not my private self,” she clarifies.

Trends Fade, Originality Stay

“I’ve never been someone who blindly follows trends,” Prerana says. “If I ever do, I make sure to add my own authenticity to it.”

In her eyes, followers gained through trends might not always become a loyal audience. “To build a strong community, you must create with a sense of originality and purpose.”

Milestones, Memories, and Moving Forward

Among her many collaborations, her work with Apple and Netflix remains close to her heart. But even with the big names, her mindset stays grounded. “The creative field is never a straight line – it comes with ups and downs,” she says.

She’s learned to handle creative blocks with compassion. “Earlier, I used to panic whenever I felt uninspired. Now I understand that creative burnout is normal – no one can feel inspired every day.”

And her advice for anyone starting out? “Don’t doubt yourself during low phases. Even at your peak, stay grounded and keep creating without overthinking.”

What’s Next for Prerana Das

Looking ahead, Prerana wants to explore Pan-India content and dive deeper into acting. “I want to work on scripts that challenge me as an actor – stories that allow me to evolve my craft further,” she says.

And if she could tell her younger self something? “You don’t owe anyone an explanation. Just live your life.”

With her creative instincts, grounded attitude, and fearless individuality, Prerana Das isn’t just another creator – she’s a storyteller who’s rewriting what it means to be real online.

I started off as a freelance writer and somewhere along the way, fell headfirst into the world of creators, influencers, and the chaotic magic of the internet. Passion’s always been my north star - everything else just follows. If I’m not writing, I’m probably overthinking a caption, romanticising a trend, or sending memes at odd hours. You’ll find a little humour, a little heart, and a lot of scroll-stopping pop culture in everything I write.
