In this age of digital communication, social media has become an essential tool for celebrities to engage with their fans and promote their personal brand. However, with great popularity comes great responsibility, and sometimes, the line between freedom of expression and acceptable conduct can become blurred. As a result, some celebrities have faced bans or suspensions from social media platforms due to their actions and behaviour. The latest to join the club is famous social media personality Puneet Superstar. Puneet’s exit from Big Boss and Instagram account being disabled lately has created controversy on social media platforms. Let’s explore who some of these celebrities are and why they have been banned from social media.
Puneet Kumar
Puneet Kumar, who got evicted from Bigg Boss OTT 2 shortly after the reality show commenced, has become a topic of interest again as his Instagram account has been disabled. When attempting to access his account, a message appears, stating, “Apologies, this page is not available. The link you followed may be broken, or the page might have been removed.”
After the ‘terminated’ Instagram account news was out on Friday, the internet has mixed reactions to it. While some are happy about it, Puneet’s fans have moved a motion on Twitter to get the celebrity back on Instagram. People have also come up with various conspiracy theories as to why this has happened.
According to some individuals on Twitter or X, Puneet’s Instagram account was taken down due to “mass reporting against it by MC Stan fans.” While there are speculations that MC Stan’s fans reported Puneet’s account as a response to his critical remarks about the rapper, there is no official confirmation of this.

In June, shortly after Puneet’s elimination from Bigg Boss OTT 2 within 24 hours, he expressed his grievances on social media and launched a scathing attack against MC Stan. Following his exit, Puneet Superstar posted a video on Instagram, where he heavily criticised MC Stan, who had served as a panellist on the show’s premiere episode. MC Stan had referred to Puneet’s content as “cringe-worthy.” However, there has been no clear indication as to why this has happened and no official source has confirmed anything.
Puneet Kumar however has made a comeback to the app on Saturday and has collaborated with Eloelo App to disclose the truth behind his ban.
Puneet is not the first celebrity to have faced such a situation and neither is he the last one to experience such a fate. There have been multiple people from the entertainment industry, politics, media and others who have been banned from social media either because of their inappropriate behaviour, hateful remarks or using social media as a revenge tool.
Kangana Ranaut
In 2021, the well-known actress Kangana Ranaut found herself embroiled in controversy when she made a comment about Mamata Banerjee. This tweet sparked a wave of anger and backlash among internet users as it was perceived as containing hateful and abusive content. As a consequence of this violation of the platform’s rules, Kangana Ranaut’s social media account was suspended. Prior to this incident, Kangana has also made many other remarks that reeked of insensitivity and hate.
Kanye West
Kanye West is known for his candid and often unfiltered tweets, which have generated significant attention and sometimes controversy. In the past, some of his tweets have sparked backlash, leading to debates and discussions among the public. While he was temporarily banned from Instagram amid his separation from Kim, he deleted all his pictures without any warning. Ye has also been banned many times by Twitter over his anti-semitic remarks and now does not have a presence online.
KRK
In 2017, Twitter permanently suspended KRK’s account for violating the platform’s rules on hateful conduct and abusive behaviour. KRK initially disclosed the climax of Secret Superstar and later made personal comments about Aamir Khan. The actor later filed a complaint against KRK and his Twitter account was permanently disabled.
Rob Kardashian
The incident occurred in July 2017 when Rob Kardashian used his Twitter account to engage in a series of explicit and abusive posts directed at his former partner, Blac Chyna. He accused her of various allegations, sharing explicit images without her consent and making derogatory comments. These actions violated Twitter’s guidelines against harassment and the sharing of explicit or revenge porn content. 2 years later, he rejoined social media and depicted that his mother now handled his account. He still cannot create any of his own content for the account.
Social media platforms continue to refine their policies and algorithms to detect and act against abusive behaviour promptly. However, it is essential for users, including celebrities, to exercise self-awareness and practise responsible communication to foster a healthier online community. By embracing constructive discussions and avoiding hate speech, public figures can contribute to a more positive digital space for their followers and the wider internet community.
