In January 2021, India launched what can possibly be the world’s largest vaccination drive. The Covid-19 pandemic that rampaged the year 2020 has unfortunately kept itself going in the year 2021 as well. To our relief not one but several medical institutes have had breakthroughs in developing coronavirus vaccines but what lies ahead is fair and equal distribution of these vaccines to the masses.
Uber Technologies, Inc., commonly known as UBER has stepped forward in these testing times to be of necessary aids to the citizens of India. In their recent public statement, UBER, has pledged “free rides worth INR 10 Cr to support vaccination of vulnerable citizens”. These free rides are deployed to help citizens travel to and from authorized vaccination centres, located in both government and private hospitals.
Uber India has even expressed their desire to help by updating their Twitter bio to
“Our destination: Staying #SaferForEachOther”
As per UBER. Here’s how you can claim a free ride:
- Tap the menu in the top left of the Uber app and select ‘Wallet’
- Select ‘Add Promo Code’ at the bottom to add the code 10M21V
- Vaccination Promo Codes will be applicable in the Uber app for all users, in 34 cities, and across all our Products
- Add the promo code for a trip to the nearest authorised vaccination centre in a Govt. or Private hospital and the return trip.
- Navigate to the rides home screen and enter the pick-up/drop-off location for yourself or the person you are booking for.
- Confirm your trip
- The value of each free ride will be maximum Rs.150 and a rider is entitled to maximum of two free rides, to and from the vaccination center
- The final fare displayed before confirming the trip will be inclusive of the discount.
UBER, has also partnered with NGOs such as Robin Hood Army to assist underprivileged elderly to and from the vaccination centres.
UBER has advanced with this step in a staggered manner. Currently the free ride facility is available in 34 cities across the country.
