With 2022 in motion, WhatsApp has released its first feature of the year for iOS beta testers. The new feature is about system notifications which include profile photos.

Since the feature uses iOS 15 APIs it has been released for testing on iOS 15 only but in days to come WhatsApp is planning to expand this feature to more accounts. Presently, users on the app may face some issues adding profile photos to specific notifications but for now those can be dismissed as this is a beta feature and WhatsApp will soon be releasing new updates to improve this feature.

New Interface for Calls

After the release of the ‘joining WhatsApp calls after the call starts’ feature, WhatsApp is working on a redesigned interface when a voice call is placed.

“We have decided to compare these interfaces, so you can understand the changes better. As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is redesigning the interface for a future update in order to make it more compact and modern, organizing the available space: the new redesign will look nice especially while placing group voice calls.” says WABetaInfo. The image above is from WhatsApp for iOS but WhatsApp will soon roll out the same redesign for a future update of WhatsApp beta for Android as well.

Furthermore WhatsApp is planning to add new indicators in the Status and Calls section to claim that “status updates, personal and group calls are always end-to-end encrypted, and this will never change.”

The new visual is still under development hence it isn’t visible on the app but it will soon be in a future update. For more official information, check out WABetaInfo website by clicking here.
