When comics came alive on the screen!

Did you enjoy reading comic books as a child? Do you still enjoy it? If you’ve been a comics aficionado, you are gonna like reading this article. There are books, stories, and plays that got converted into movies and web shows.

But just so you know there are also comic books that came alive on screen. They got converted into shows. One of the most popular ones being- DC Comics. There are others as well that you must know about. It might as well turn out that you know about these shows but not the fact that they are based on comic books.

These are some of the comics that got converted to shows and are available on the OTT platforms.

Titans

Titans is an American superhero television series created by Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and Greg Berlanti. It is based on the DC Comics team Teen Titans, the series depicts a group of young heroes who join forces in their fight against evil.

Titans follows the young superheroes of the eponymous team as they combat evil and other perils.  Disbanded when the story begins, the series sees the team return when the original and new members reform the Titans. The Titans fight crime throughout various locations, including Detroit, San Francisco, and Gotham City.

The Umbrella Academy

The Umbrella Academy is an American superhero streaming television series based on the comic book series of the same name written by Gerard Way, illustrated by Gabriel Bá, and published by Dark Horse Comics.

It revolves around a dysfunctional family of adopted sibling superheroes who reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death and the threat of an imminent apocalypse. The series is produced by Borderline Entertainment (season 1–2), Irish Cowboy (season 3), Dark Horse Entertainment, and Universal Cable Productions. It is available on Netflix.

The Batman (series)

The Batman is an American animated television series based on the DC Comics superhero Batman. Developed by Michael Goguen and Duane Capizzi, and produced by Warner Bros. Animation, the series first aired on Kids’ WB on September 11, 2004, then on Cartoon Network on April 2, 2005. The show would become exclusive to the former network for its third, fourth, and fifth seasons in early 2006. The Batman won six Daytime Emmy Awards over the course of its run. Many elements from previous Batman storylines were borrowed and adapted, such as those from the comic books, film series, and animated shows like Batman: The Animated Series from the DC Animated Universe, but it remained strictly within its own distinct continuity.

Lucifer

Lucifer is an American urban fantasy television series developed by Tom Kapinos that premiered on January 25, 2016, and concluded on September 10, 2021. It is based on the DC Comics character created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg. The character was introduced in the comic book series The Sandman, and later became the protagonist of a spin-off comic book series. Both series were published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint.

The series focuses on Lucifer Morningstar, a handsome and powerful angel who was cast out of Heaven for his rebellion. As the Devil, Lucifer tires of the millennia, he spent being the Lord of Hell, punishing people. Becoming increasingly bored and unhappy with his life in Hell, he abdicates his throne in defiance of his father (God) and abandons his kingdom for Los Angeles, where he runs his own nightclub called Lux.

The Boys

The Boys is set in a universe where superpowered individuals, called Supes, are recognized as heroes by the general public and work for a powerful corporation known as Vought International that markets and monetizes them. Outside their heroic personas, most are arrogant, selfish, and corrupt. The series primarily focuses on two groups: the Seven, Vought’s premier superhero team, and the Boys, vigilantes looking to bring down Vought and its fake superheroes.
