Nukkad Studios Inclusivity

Q: What is the inspiration behind the brand?

A: “I wanted people to engage with prints and arts that speak to them. The dream was to make really good quality T-shirts and provide such prints that can never be a Poccha! (a mop)

Q: Our series – #ProudlyMe celebrates being unapologetically yourself, how do your products resonate with this thought?

A: “In this dynamic world of constantly changing trends, products of Nukkad Studios, and all our designs, are unapologetically our aesthetic, irrespective of where the trend goes. No matter what the definition of “cool” is, we will make stuff that resonates with the aesthetic of India and our beautiful art.”

Q: If there was one product that you could pick as your current favourite, what would it be?

Inclusivity Nukkad Studios

A: “My current favourite would be the Starry Nights socks we made. They are a pair of cotton socks with every line finely knitted on the fabric. It is a tribute to my favourite artist – Van Gogh.”

Olakatu Inclusivity

Q: What is the inspiration behind the brand?

A: “My personal brand, ‘Olakatu’ is where I have the opportunity to express myself through illustrations and the written word. Through comics, zines and stickers I like to tell stories of what it’s like being a queer person in India. I also run ‘Metafair’, an event curation initiative, that for the most part focuses on providing queer artists and businesses with the opportunity to promote and sell their work at LIVE events. Our clients have included Social Bangalore, WeWork India and Tiger Tiger Brewhouse.”

Q: Our series – #ProudlyMe celebrates being unapologetically yourself, how do your products resonate with this thought?

A: “Most of my products are a by-product of life experiences and being queer has influenced the specific way I view the world, immensely. Whether it be the poetry I write or the comics I make, they are all influenced by how I’ve navigated the world as a queer person. I can honestly say that there is nothing more #ProudlyMe than the work I create.”

Q: If there was one product that you could pick as your current favourite, what would it be?

Olakatu Inclusivity

A: “My current favourites are the stickers of Pokemon holding queer flags that I made and I love them all!”

Through their arty offerings, these brands remind us that self-expression knows no bounds. They encourage us to celebrate our individuality, embrace diversity, and spread positivity through the things we wear, use, and surround ourselves with. Remember, art has the power to unite, inspire, and transform.
