Directed by Nia DaCosta of the Candyman (2021) fame, the Marvels of the MCU stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani in the role of Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan respectively.

The Marvels is the third release from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase 5, upholding the essence laid out in its prequel Ms Marvel, where these leading ladies will be swapping bodies to replace each other.

The seeds of these body-swapping antics were sown in the post-credits of Ms Marvel where Kamala was replaced by Carol in her Jersey City home with no explanation of any kind. Now we know the reason behind this is the entanglement of the 3 ladies which swaps them to places they probably shouldn’t be and the only way forward is to work in harmony with each other. Kamala’s over-enthusiastic delight versus the displeasure of Carol and Rambeau is sure to bring some pearls of laughter.

Keeping aside the internal dynamics, the three Superheroes also have to go on a few intergalactic escapades to fight the remains of the Kree Empire, a major chunk of which was defeated by Carol. Whether these trips will turn out to be adventures or misadventures, only time will tell.

The Kree Empire will be headed by Zawe Ashton who is seen wielding a hammer. If you look closely, the hammer resembles Ronan’s hammer, the one he had in both Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel. Carol exploding the Kree soldiers should be enough to leave a bad aftertaste for the Kree Chief leading to heated relationship between the two. In the trailer, Kamala, as well as the Chief, are spotted sporting the same bangle and this cannot be a mere coincidence. All this is indicating a dramatic history and we surely cannot wait for the drama to unfold.

The trailer was initially released at the D23 Expo 2022 for its scheduled theatrical release in the month of July. However, the ‘first teaser trailer’ was dropped on their official Marvel Entertainment channel ahead of the November 10 release. The roller coaster ride Marvel Cinematic Universe has had in the past year, predicting the success of the movie seems rather impossible but the trailer has definitely taken the internet by storm, trending on various platforms including Twitter and also has an enormous 10 million views in less than 24 hours on their official Youtube channel- Marvel Entertainment.
