Who Is Priyanshu Modi?

Priyanshu Modi (@priyaansshu) is a multi-talented individual best known as a filmmaker, writer, and content creator. Before creating content online, he was also a front-end developer, showcasing his expertise in frameworks like React and Vue.js. His new mini-series on Instagram called “The Creator” tries to find happiness in what a creator’s life is like behind the camera scene. Let’s explore the series that’s making rounds on the internet praising Priyanshu’s creativity.

Episode 01 – The Final Episode

Priyanshu, portraying Akshay Dewan, initiates the series by explaining that they have been participating in the ‘Happiness Challenge‘ for the past 7 days to maintain happiness. However, they struggled to maintain their happiness and ended up smashing both their phones and their emotions.

Later in the scene, he meets his friend, Siddharth, played by Kislaya Gupta, and discusses how the series is not working due to his phone not helping him record. Siddharth then offers him his phone, mellowing him down saying, “Yeh happiness challenge ki ek hi video bachi hai na?” to which Akshay explodes. “Exactly! Yeh happiness challenge kar raha hoon mai. Phone ki baat nahi hai, life mein bhi kuch sahi nahi chal raha hai. Sutta lene ke paise nahi hai, dukhi hota hoon toh 2.5k followers chale jaate hai,” he vents.

While the heated scenario is on, Siddharth receives a call from his other friend, who tells him about Akshay’s Instagram LIVE shenanigans. But what are the shenanigans? He gets to know that while he spotted the recording and smashed the phone, it unintentionally went to LIVE to which he said, “Bhaad mein gaya happiness challenge aur bhaad mein gaye log!” Tragically, 300+ people joined his LIVE and commented things like, “Influencer Exposed” and “Kitne fake hote hai ye log.”

Episode 02 – The Problem

The second episode opens with Akshay & Siddharth talking about the LIVE ruse and then out of nowhere one girl approaches saying, “Kaisa hai?” Guess who was it? His ex-girlfriend Shreya, played by Shruti Choudhary. The scene turns to Akshay & Shreya sitting at a cafe and talking about their whereabouts.

Later, walking back towards their paths Akshay asked her about his new boyfriend and scoffed at being happy with or without him. Shreya discloses, Khushi chase nahi banayi jaati hai with whatever you have and wherever you are. But tujhe kaise samajega because the sad part is tu kaise bhi khush nai ho payega!”

Episode 03 – The Storm

Remembering the words Shreya said in the previous episode, Akshay was weeping all alone sitting by the path. A while before this, a heated conversation took place between Siddharth & Akshay where Siddharth was explaining, “Why are you obsessed with getting all things done right?” He further explained to Akshay that by trying to fix everything he might lose the 1 thing that is around you. This takes him back to the scene where one of his fans approached him saying, “I love your work man! You have changed my life after the happiness series.”

Episode 04 – The List

In the last and most heart-melting episode, Akshay calls his mother after losing almost every good thing in his life asking, “Aapko kabhi aisa nai laga ke mujhe kuch (job) kar lena chahiye tha?” to which his mother responded, “Then what would have happened? Aur paise chahiye hote… beta life mein bahot cheeze hoti hai and uski list kabhi khatam nahi hoti. But khus rehne ke liye 1-2 cheeze hi bahot hoti hai.”

As the realization hits, Akshay goes on to make a heartfelt video about how in the race to find happiness in everything, he lost himself. But he promised to learn to be happy in the moment and not chase it, because “Happiness is now.”

Getting real with the legend himself, we had a candid chat with Priyanshu about how he created this masterpiece that none of us saw coming. Read on:

What sparked the idea for ‘The Creator’ series, and how did you bring your vision to life?

In April, during my annual agency call, we joked about Instagram trends and daily challenges. Suddenly, it hit me to create a series about a creator taking up such a challenge. The idea grew over time. By June, I was chasing happiness and questioning myself, leading to the central philosophy of the series. After scripting, it took a week’s shooting and editing, along with a wonderful team of friends, to bring the idea to life.

What message would you give to those who are chasing happiness & struggling to find it?

The same message that Shreya gives to Akshay at the end of the second episode of the series – ‘you can’t chase happiness, it’s not a treasure you have to find. It’s there with you, in whatever you do, wherever you are. All you need to do is sit back and realise that.’ Or what Siddharth gives to him in the third episode or what Akshay’s mother tells him in the final episode (watch the series for this :P).

What does happiness mean to you, Priyanshu?

That’s the point, it doesn’t mean any one thing. Because the moment I assign a specific meaning to it, I’ll try to find it in that exact form, which is nothing but a futile attempt. Hence, for me, it’s nothing but those moments that I can’t put into words, and I’d like it to stay that way. Happiness is random, it is a moment, and it is now, and that’s the beauty of it.

Priyanshu’s exceptional filmmaking, writing, and content creation skills have masterfully brought ‘The Creator’ series to life. His work inspires us to embrace our creativity and find joy in the journey, rather than constantly chasing an evasive destination.
